Comedy Horror

Comedy horror is a brilliant "best of both worlds" genre. It uses the pacing and tension of horror but releases that pressure with jokes, absurdity, or satire. These films usually fall into two camps: parodies (making fun of horror tropes) or horror-comedies (funny movies that still feature genuine scares). 

1.) Shaun of the Dead (2004)  The gold standard of the genre. It’s a "Zom-Com" (Zombie Comedy) that balances a very funny script with actual emotional stakes and surprisingly gore-filled action.

2.) The Cabin in the Woods (2011)  A meta-horror masterpiece that deconstructs every trope in the book. It starts as a typical slasher but turns into something completely wild and unexpected. 

3.) Tucker & Dale vs. Evil (2010)  A hilarious reversal of the "hillbilly horror" trope. Two well-meaning guys are mistaken for killers by a group of judgmental college students who keep accidentally killing themselves.
